The scope of works involved refurbishing 3,000m2 commercial office space over two levels, providing new work spaces and PC2 grade laboratories including a PCR suite, chemistry and biology labs and lab support amenities. The refurbished spaces serve as the Melbourne headquarters for 360biolabs.
The introduction of Class 8 (Laboratory) facilities within an existing Class 5 (Commercial Office) building triggered several compliance requirements under the building code. Our team worked closely with the project team to establish the most appropriate rectification to the non-compliances and incorporate the built upgrades into the project timeline.
The site being an aged operational office building had several unique constraints and latent conditions. Working closely with 360biolabs, the landlord and design team we actively managed these issues through an early works scope which rectify existing conditions, whilst the design was being completed.
