A multi-staged maternity wing upgrade to Level 3 of an existing Hospital including construction of 5no new bedrooms, a premium birthing suite, associated nurse stations, NUM offices and 2no staff support bedrooms (overnight anaesthetist and doctor) within an empty cold shell space.

Refurbishment scope included reconfiguration of 7 existing bedrooms and associated ensuites with new joinery and finishes to present a ‘Hotel feel’ experience for patients. A further reconfigure 3 existing Birthing Suites requiring new joinery, floor finishes, ensuite upgrades with hotel style joinery and wall tiling and the installation of a new ducted mechanical system and AHU to condition the existing space. Nurse station upgrades and visitor/ reception refresh.

Our program completion planned for initial works in the cold shell area as the main focus to be delivered before interrupting existing occupied areas.

Once works had commenced on site the client required different phases to be accelerated when a competing hospital closed the maternity service. The 7 existing rooms planned to be completed after the cold shell then became the priority. Our ability to resequence the program quickly allowed for a successful completion
