Our team was engaged to complete a full floor refurbishment at the Florey Institute located on Melbourne University’s campus in Parkville. The project scope focused on new teaching procedure rooms for the surgeon and doctors of the neruroscience department and included support spaces.
Interface with the building occupants was necessary to schedule and complete all disruptive activities such as coring and demolition. The occupied level directly beneath housed staff working on important clinical studies with sheep and mice, therefore it was critical to not disrupt their works. Through careful programme management, disruptive tasks were identified and dates updated through forecasting allowing notification and interference minimising procedures to be put in place early. In doing so, works were completed effectively without impacting the adjacent staff.
The project brought together a successful collaboration with the design team and specialist contractors. The result of the facility enhances the Florey Institutes world leading teaching facilities.
