The Drug Discovery Laboratory was purpose built within anexisting level at WEHI.  The new PC2 certified space was built to house the latest in robotics technologies for screening chemical compounds in the field of drug discovery. This ultra-high-throughput equipment allows researchers to identify the exact chemical compounds needed to develop medicines that will treat a wide range of diseases. Our team was engaged as the head contractor to deliver the project.

Understanding the importance of business continuity, our team implemented numerous strategies to reduce the impacts of noise, vibration, infection control, and service disruption. The project scope included construction of a robotics space with external viewing stations, general wet and dry laboratories, freezer rooms, a cold room laboratory and associated administration and write up areas. In conjunction with these works, services upgrades including electrical switchboards, uninterrupted power supply (UPS),fire services, air handling units, fume cupboards and medical gases were also delivered.

Due to the evolving nature of the robotics design and the platform-specific requirements, we worked with WEHI and specific laboratory teams to resolve changes to the room configuration and services interface as they arose.
